Thinking about Sensation..pad choice?

My new boy is low withered, wide backed. Doesn’t fit very well in my dressage saddle. After reading posts here and some others on the internet, I’m thinking about doing a demo with a Sensation.

My question though is, would my Equipedic pad work under that? Or do I need something more specific for a treeless like Skito?

Thanks so much!

For any treeless, you need a “treeless saddle pad”. This is any pad that provides spinal clearance. This is usually provided by a lack of padding right over the spine. I believe many treeless riders use an Equipedic. I do ride treeless, but I use either Skito or Christ pads (because that is what my used saddle came with!).

If your Equipedic has inserts (one for each side), likely it will work. Sensation is GREAT for answering questions. Ask them!

I just use a regular fleecy saddle pad. The Sensation has those wonderful “traditional treed-looking” panels that lift the saddle very nicely off the spine without any pad at all. I used it on both a mutton withered round pony, and one that has a medium wither and is a bit thinner and more rangy. Works great on both with just a traditional fleecy saddle pad.
