Thinline Trim to Fit shims

Last time I bought shims for my Thinline pad they were selling pre-cut shims. Now I see they only sell full size shims that you cut to fit your needs. I like the versatility of this model but I’m nervous about messing it up. Does anyone have any tips? I’m worried that just cutting it with a pair of scissors would create a blunt edge and a pressure point. Should I use a box cutter to get a nice beveled edge like my pre-cut shims? Or am I over thinking the whole thing?

We use drawer liner material or thin yoga mat and cut that. That was from a saddle fitter recommendation. Provides versatility for size and thickness.

I’ve heard of that too. That may be better from a cost standpoint but having to cut the mat to fit the pad seems daunting!

I think you’re overthinking it. I cut my old thinline halfpad up to make shims and didn’t have any issues. I just used a big heavy duty pair of very sharp scissors and they definitely have blunt edges but I haven’t seen any difference.

That makes me feel better! I was thinking there would be a really drastic change under the saddle but there is the rest of the pad to soften that thickness change.
