This is TOO funny!!!!

“Leases availabe at my barn in *********. I have a arab/ quarter x gelding who is a wonderful 14H guy…western or english. A TB mare who needs love and attention, and a couple of TB geldings who are wonderful. Leases are offered at 75.00 a month plus half of the horses shoes or trims and their worming or vaccinations, 7 days a week at your leisure and convenience. Tack is available. Our facilities are as nice as the horses. I know it sounds to good to be true, but it’s not. thank you.”

Does it sound too good to be true??? Well, IT IS!!! The last statement of the horses are as nice as the facilities cracks me up! The pasture fences are falling down, the horses don’t have ANY shelter, the ground is REALLY hard and they have major water problems, as in, sometimes there isn’t enough to water the horses AND take a shower, so, shower it is!!!

yes, they have a covered arena but it is a regulation dressage sized arena that has 12+ jumps in it that are moved every 6 months and the arena is never dragged! As for the horses… They are rescues that 99% of the time have not had time to mentally recover from their former situations. They are immediatly put into a lesson program, and jumped! No matter if they are wild and crazy (she sells those as nice horses that have been used in lesson programs and whom have shown succesfully) or if they are too old to move.

Many of you who have been around on this BB for awhile know of the barn I have talked about where all those horrible things happened that made me not like H/J’s for awhile, well, this is their most recent advertisement! And the sad thing is, beginner riders go their constantly because she is so sweet and nice at first and really sounds like she knows what she is talking about, and a lot of people are taken in by their good “we rescue these poor horses” demeanor. However, to the “in the know” people in this area, they are the laughing stock and everyone knows that she is all talk and that they don’t properly manage their horses. They feed small flakes of poor quality hay to 17+hh TB’s and then wonder why they are all so thin. Oh yes, and have I ever mentioned that she is more likley to rescue a Chestnut than any other color as she doesn’t LIKE other colors? So if it came down to two horses in a horrible situation, and the bay was in worse condition, she would choose the chestnut because of the color.

Sorry to vent, but I just don’t know how people like this can still be around in this business. I mean, why haven’t they gone under yet? Only about 4 people go there a week, the place is desolate and they have maybe one or two boarders. The other 35+ horses and ponies are her own. It just makes me MAD!!!

CWP beat me to it–she’s at Stanford, though stopped out for part of this past (her freshman) year. She is very cool though–we had mutual friends at school. --Jess

I always did think that Beezer looked like a spanish horse…

I heard Harvard, that is what it says on the USET site about her, and on TH they discussed it and someone said she was definantly at Harvard… who knows! Anyway, Stanford IS really close though, and I know Sarah Willeman is there. I thought about going there but I was too lazy to get the grades to get in. Of course now that I am a “minority” being that I am older than the average graduate now I could probably get in now!

Oh yeah, another thing I forgot to add about that place is they have a sign made by the owner/“trainer” that says “Lessions” and the funny thing is, she squeezed the “i” in after the rest was correctly spelled out. And people want to trust this woman to teach their kids??? not to mention her psycho husband who threatend me and accused me of stealing, but that is a WHOLE other novel LOL!

Now I’m confused.

You used these people as your benchmark for the standard of Hunter/Jumper people?

“The older I get, the better I used to be.”

As promised, the picture I took at Showpark last year. This fence was toooo cool.

“The older I get, the better I used to be.”

Well, Cactus, you have to understand, I have had TERRIBLE encounters with h/j people in this area, them being the worst. I can’t even describe the hell and abuse I went through working for them!

So, I was glad when I came to this BB and found out that not ALL h/j people were snobby, rude and incredibly self-centered! Because in the schooling circuits I went to with this barn, all it was was back-stabbing and meaness.

When I first started going to that place, they had only been there a few months. They seemed like nice enough people, and so I started to buy an older Hanoverian gelding from them. They offered me a job, and I took it. Then, their true colors started to emerge, and I had a lot of eye opening expieriences. And yes, it DID leave a bad taste in my mouth. However, the good people here and the people at my new barn have changed my mind.

But if all you have is negative expieriences with something, you get a negative outlook. There are those whom have only had negative expieriences with Dressage riders, and therefore have negative outlooks on Dressage.

It has all changed though, obviously, since I have switched from Dressage to Jumpers, and have met many nice people along the way!

Ok, now I get it.

When I get to my house I will try to remember to post a photo I took at the Olympic Trials at Del Mar last year. It is pretty cool one of Elise and Mr Blue at the bicycle jump. I think you will enjoy it.

Later…

“The older I get, the better I used to be.”

That would be so cool! Thank you! I can’t wait until she starts competing heavily again, but she’s away at Harvard. Well, at least she’ll be really educated when she gets back!

Actually, she’s much closer than that! She’s at Stanford…
