This sort of salt okay for daily use?

thanks! I know there is concern about iodine?

I’m sure it’s fine, if you’re set on Smartpaks. I get a 50 pound bag at the feed store for less than $9. Works out to a few cents a day.

Why not just get uniodized salt from Costco or the grocery? Literally costs a couple cents a day vs $.48+? And you can slowly add more until they’re used to eating it, if you add a whole serving all at once a lot of horses will turn up their noses.

Not worried about the price, just the safety of the product… I board my horse so need it to be convenient for the management

When my TB’s bloodwork was wonky (30+ yrs ago, so I don’t recall what values were off) vet recommended this:

I can get plain white salt at the feedstore.

that really depends on how much iodine is coming in from fortified feeds/supplements already.

According to the page, there’s no iodine in this supplement. That’s fine (and likely good) if you’re feeding required amounts of a fortified feed/ration balance, as that provides enough iodine for the average horse. If there’s no feed or any additional source of iodine, I’d want iodized salt
