EqT is the best. Walking into her lovely home, you just can’t help but feel kindness, warmth, and acceptance. Whitney gladly stayed behind, which made me feel so glad that my little old dog could have a break, too.
I drove out to Lexington, KY first, and stayed Saturday night with someone who started as a complete stranger but ended as a very good friend. I met up with an amazing women I met once, a year ago, while walking my dog on a beach in school. She showed me her home (complete with a Palomino gelding and huge guest house) and asked (then nearly begged) me to come and stay. I reunited and reminisced with an old friend and her amazing family, who introduced me to some of the top TB horses in the country, and we even saw a just-born foal.
I got glimpses of a life I want. I submersing myself with people that are so positive and balanced that it’s highly contagious. We cooked and sat down for a great dinner (it’s been years since that happened). I relaxed on a Sunday morning and read a book, while sitting next to an author, all while being surrounded by natural beauty.
When I leave school at the end of the day, I’ve just been feeling lost (caveat: I adore school and I tell everyone that my clinical year has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Often, I stop back or don’t want to leave the hospital on nights and weekends). It’s not the things that matter much (although, castles and foals are amazing!), but the feeling of acceptance and tranquility that I stumbled upon this weekend that I had lost, and missed so much.
Walking through the barn, I couldn’t help but take a photo of this sign that was applicable:

For those of you who haven’t been in Lexington before, I literally turned right at a castle to get to the farm:

I would only leave Lexington after promising myself I’d come back through on my way back east. (Yes, I will be back there about 1.5 weeks… anyone up for coffee, or letting me exercise their racehorse in the morning??? Hehe ) Where will I go when I’m finished school is anyone’s guess right now. I don’t have a home to go back to, which just means, I can go almost anywhere. I’m getting ahead of myself- I need to finish school and pass boards, first.
I’m extremely humbled by everyone’s posts. Thank you. A huge thank you, again, to EqT and LMEqT, for loving my little old dog.
