Hi All,
I have a lovely 21 year old gelding out of Gallarius (Thomas Farms Stallion) and I love him dearly. While he is serviceably sound, he is no longer able to canter. Most comfortable horse that I’ve ever sat on and personality to boot. I also have a TB/Han mare that I also adore. She is a better hunter than a dressage horse…but hast really nice movement and personality to boot. She is G line Hanoverian/TB. I would love to have a Gallarius Baby, but haven’t had any luck so far reaching the farm by contacting through the website…I was wondering if anyone knew if Thomas Farms still has their stallions and any news on Gallarius…semen still available, etc. As I was checking out stallions online tonight, I also came across Manhattan (Oldenburg) and I loved what I saw…curious if anyone has any information on him. Just starting to look and am looking at stallions built more like these two stallions…Gallarius and Manhattan.
I owned a mare by Manhattan. Absolutely lovely horse and has gone on to have a couple of stunning foals by Rousseau. She was/is a lovely mover, very kind and easy to ride. I would own another by him or breed to him if it was feasible for me to do so. My mare’s breeder actually bred her dam three times to Manhattan and each time ended up with a really nice filly. If I had not been dealing with a divorce situation I would have kept that mare and bred her to my own stallion; but, it just wasn’t in the cards for me.
Hi Dalpal,
I used to handle Gallarius when he was a two year old and I worked at the farm where he lived; nice to be reminded of him. As I recall, he and Sue’s other stallion, Pharaoh, were sent back to Germany long ago, maybe to Gestüt Tannenhof? I doubt there is frozen available unless Sue had them collected before they left.
Your timing is amazing. PM me if it’s possible, Thomas Farms is selling all of their horses right now. I just got a 4yo Gallarius baby from them, I have the manager’s contact info and can connect you immediately.
Patriot, Papillon and Gallarius are all in Minnesota. All have frozen still available as well!
I have heard nothing but great things about Mannhattan babies. The owner, Kathy St. Martin is a delight to work with…and an excellent reproduction specialist so you always know you are being delivered excellent quality semen.
Definitely contact Kathy if you have interest in Mannhattan. I have extensive personal experience with a daughter of his, who is now 6. She DEFINITELY favors him… got his head, neck, shoulder, and hind end. An EXCEPTIONAL mover. A truly dual purpose sort of mare… with good enough movement to be a dressage prospect, but plenty of scope and talent over jumps as well. She really enjoys jumping, is very honest and willing, and has been carefully and slowly brought along in a very good eventing program.
Interstiny enough, the Mannhattan daughter is out of a G line Oldenburg mare. The other stallion you mentioned was G line. G line horses tend to be slower maturing, dual purpose athletes. Not necessarily what is currently most marketable, in fashion and popular… but quality, rideable, capable athletic horses Mannhattan himself has two lines back to Furioso II… a proven cross with G line mares…
