Thornhill 24K Event or similar?

Hi, i’m mostly a lurker, but first want to thank all in this forum for posts throughout the years, as they’ve been very helpful in my google quest to educate myself. I had stumbled across several reviews in years past on the Thornhill saddles, specifically the 24K event, as well as other price point type saddles like Smith Worthington, BdH, etc. I’m currently a western performance horse person, specifically barrel and rope horses, who grew up riding hunter jumpers and never outgrew the love for it. Now as an adult and bored with my current discipline, I have decided to rekindle that love and do some playing, with hopes of eventually doing some beginner novice eventing. I’m needing to find a saddle in the $1500 price range, that will let me have some fun yet still ride balanced and correct. As much as i’d love to jump out there and buy a Voltaire or a Bruno, i’m just not sure that’s feasible at this point, but I also don’t want to buy something that rides crappy. It seems as though many had great things to say about the Thornhill 24K event and the balance and quality of that saddle for the price, but the links I found were several years old. Are they still getting good reviews?

Secondly, i’m tall with an extremely long femur, so will need something with a pretty forward flap. Right off the bat I bought a Stubben Genesis in a 17.5 seat and feel as though it may be a bit small and the flap certainly isn’t forward enough, as my knee is at the edge and I likely don’t have my stirrups pulled up as far as they need to be quite yet.

What are some recommedations of things I should look at? I have seen in previous posts the AdT gets good reviews along with the Jaguar and others. I just need some guidance. So likely looking for an 18" seat, 17.5 at the smallest, with a much more forward flap than the Stubben I have. Thank you all in advance for your comments!

My daughter and I love ours! We have Thornhill 24k pro trainer close contact saddles. They are comfortable and hold up really well.

Thank you Barn Mom. How long have you had them?

We have three between the 2 of us, all purchased used. The first was purchased for my dd, about 10 years ago and is probably around 20 now. She rode it it 3-5 days a week for most of the time that we’ve had it, and also took it to college. When we bought it, the seat was showing wear at the seams, it finally blew a couple of years ago. So, now that one is mine, LOL! We’re in a saddle repair desert, or I’d have it fixed in a heartbeat!
