Thornhill Germania CC saddle, thoughts?

I am looking for an inexpensive saddle for a pony that I acquired earlier this year. Not looking for super high end, but needs to hold up to regular use.

My local tack shop carries these, and my fitter brought the Germania Spring (jump version) for me to try. I was personally pretty underwhelmed with the quality for the price. The pulled leather was pretty stiff and scratched super easily.

In the same price range, there are better options. IME, the Intrepid saddles are in the same price range and have nicer finishing, wool flocking, changeable gullets and nicer, stickier leather.

The only reason the fitter brought me this particular saddle was that the horse I was attempting to fit had a very high, long wither and the Germania had a full front gusset and dropped panel. If you need those particular attributes, then it is one of the only saddles in a lower price range that offers those and may be worth a look.

I’ve had mine for 2 years. It is reasonably comfortable and is holding up well I have not had any problems with scratches. It broke in fairly easily.
that’s my ottb well and puts me in a good position

I have one coming on trial. Hopefully will be here next week. It has the gussets my horse needs. I’ll let you know what I think of it once it arrives

Oops, made this post and then promptly forgot about it. Is your TB the typical TB build? This pony is very round (a little too round right now) with very little wither. I’m hoping to re-home him in the spring after giving him some miles this winter and don’t really want to spend a lot. I found one on eBay for $600.

He is fairly typical. He has a little bit of a wither but not too prominent. No wither hollows. He has a slightly A shaped topline. He is 16.1 H and fairly solid through the body. Decent shoulder.

If your pony is rounder/wider, you might want to look at the Thornhill Berlin. It id an AP but is supposed to have more of a hoop tree and to fit wider/flatter backs.
