Has anyone had jumping prospects with either of these sires up close? Any info on temperament, jumping technique, etc. would be appreciated.
Two of my favorites.
Both sires have had successful steeplechase racing offspring.
Langfuhr has sired 1.40m jumpers and upper level eventers. He really was one of the most underrated sires.
I have seen some nice English Channel offspring on the resale market. I can’t think of any at the top of the sport, but I don’t think that’s any reflection of their ability, just a sign of the times.
I can’t really speak to specifics like their jumping form because honestly, I don’t pay that much attention. I met Langfuhr several times and he had a really cool temperament. No one ever complains about the temperament of Langfuhr offspring that’s for sure.
Thank you. I just bought a colt by English Channel out of a Langfuhr mare and wondered if anyone had experienced those lines. He has an unusually good temperament and looks like jumping may be his thing.
IMO, for a TB to ride, jump, and enjoy, you could hardly do better than having those two stallions close up in the pedigree.
Thank you! That’s reassuring to hear. So far so good.
I’ve never had any offspring of English Channel, but we bred to Langfuhr twice (we breed racehorses) with 2 very different mares. Both offspring, a filly and a colt, had the Langfuhr look: good bone, solid bodies, and a calm, intelligent expression.

Beautiful! Nice and deep through the loins. Thanks for sharing!
Langfuhr really stamps them with a huge shoulder and big walk!
