Thoroughbred Sport Horse/Hunter Breeders in Virginia

I thought someone here would have the names and contact info of a few Thoroughbred Sport Horse Breeders in the Virginia area.

I’m really interested in the older/classic bloodlines Castle Magic, Absolut (Lancaster Avenue), Bit of Class, and Rock Point.

I was able to find the website for Joan Fox Miller who stands Fun And Fancy Free; but wanted to see if anyone knows if John Kelly still breeds sport horses and what his contact info is, or anyone else that comes to mind in VA.

What are you looking for? I might be able to help!

I stand a TB stallion that produces very nice hunter babies.

I would be interested in broodmares with any of these bloodlines. I have one Bit Of Class broodmare, and I love her! Shall I message you?

Email Diana Dodge at Nokomis3@msn.com. She knows where the best TBs for the hunter ring are!

Phyllis Jones stood Castle Magic and now stands Friend Or Foe. She’s an amazing horsewoman. Www.smallwoodfarm.org

I have a TB stallion with an old American phenotype. Big bodied, incredible bone and quiet disposition. Homozygous black, too. Halo/Hoist The Flag. But located in FL.

I have frozen semen for a Bit of Class grandson, but he is an Anglo Arabian, not TB. He is 75% TB. 17.2h.

Sent you a pm.

Diana Dodge has Nob Hill standing for breeding. She’s one of the best in VA and can offer a lot of knowledge.

I have a Rock Point mare. She has produced a fantastic hunter filly for us by Apiro. I may not be breeding anymore so might consider giving her up.

I have a mare by Simbalu out of the Sir Thomson mare I bought from Diana Dodge eons ago. Old time VA bred. Love her. Best minded horse for an amateur ever.
I have a friend with this mares half sister, out of the same Sir Thomson mare but by Absolut (Lancaster Avenue). A beautiful cross. She won the TB broodmare class at Upperville a few years back.
Love those VA tbs!

OP If you’re interested I have a very very proven broodmare by Chenin Blanc out of a nice hunter mare (reg. Tb) who’s thrown a dozen perfect and wonderful foals (including 3 halfbred middle-weight hunters.)
She’s totally old Va tb lines - and she showed on the line and as a young horse, herself.
Best. Mind. Ever.
I’ll be delighted to (free) lease her for the 2015 season. She’s leased for 2014 (due early June; always catches on first-go so it’d be another June foal.) I want her back, but I have her 12 year old, her 2 year old and her yearling and I just had to break the cycle for a few years so I could catch up!!
Contact me thru my website if you’re interested.

Our Hanoverian-approved TB mare, Camille, is Virgina-bred, by Prize Ring, a Buckpasser son who was stood near Warrenton. Her dam was Crystal Glen, a Selle Francais-approved mare that was a good jumper in the '90’s.

She’s a very “old” type.

I’ve bred Camille twice to As Di Villagana.

First foal, As Di Ani Z (2008)…we still have her–she’s been to a few shows, and we can’t wait to do more.

Ani had a Jaguar Mail colt in 2012–he’s still a stallion and is at Junior Johnson’s. Saw him this past weekend–he looks great! Being offered as a stallion prospect, which is a niche market for sure…he’s 5/8 TB, very ‘modern,’ and it will be interesting to see how he develops and what he produces when the time comes.

Second one from Camille, a colt, As Di Valentia, was sold to Diane Halpin, who in turn sold him to Bill Schaub.

Breeding back to As Di again this year.

(Photos of all can be seen on my FB page).
