Thoroughbred Stallion Suggestions?

Can anyone suggest a thoroughbred stallion?

My current advanced level eventer’s pedigree is here: http://www.pedigreequery.com/widespread+panic

A few years ago I bought the dam to breed more foals from her… LOVE her!

I would love to breed her to a TB with similar lines as my guy’s sire. The sire’s bloodlines are here: http://www.pedigreequery.com/jambalaya+jazz (Unfortunately he is deceased or I would use him.) Anyone have any bright ideas as to a sire similarly bred to Jambalaya Jazz?

My hope is to repeat a similar cross since that one worked REALLY well for us! =)

Thanks!

Are you looking to have the baby be an eventer? I’m afraid I don’t know too much about thoroughbred sport horse lines, but here are some good Thoroughbreds who have been successful producers of showjumpers and/or eventers:

Heraldik xx (top-ranked eventing producer)
Coconut Grove xx

Another that I’m surprised I don’t hear more about is Roven from Team Nijhof. I keep trying to find a mare for him, I think he’s lovely

Sea Accounts

Sea Accounts is touted often here, and available to sport breeders.

He is bred fairly similarly to Jambalya Jazz, particularly with respect to the Northern Dancer / Graustark / Ribot influence. Here is a link to a hypomating using your mare and Sea Accounts from the sporthorse database:

You’d keep the relatively strong linebreeding to Northern Dancer and Graustark that you have with your current boy, with a strong percentage of Hyperion kept as well.

Others can tell you whether they think breeding these lines is a good idea or not. ND has his champions and his detractors, although I think the Danzig lines are generally well thought of (Neville Bardos is a Danzig grandson). I did some limited research and there was no sign that Graustark had as bad of a reputation for temperament as did his daddy Ribot.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys… I’m mostly interested in a Dixieland Band or Graustark line stallion. It can be a total race stallion for all I care, and can never have sired a single sporthorse… I’m just interested in something from those lines, as they obviously worked pretty well for her in the past. Didn’t know if anyone knew of a TB stallion by those lines… Not just looking for any TB stallion, but one similarly bred to the sire she used before.

THANKS!!!

Jambalya Jazz had a full brother (1997) called Clock Radio. Didn’t do well at the track. Don’t know if he is still around anywhere, intact, or what he looks like, but if you like the breeding enough it might be interesting to try to find out.

Dixiland Band is most well known as a broodmare sire. He was used a lot in racing so you should find a son around. Of course finding a son you can afford is another question;)

Hook & Ladder stands in NY. He’s a son of Dixiland Band. http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/stallion-directory/simple-stallion.aspx?stallion_no=4294482&farm_no=731166

Graustark has been dead for a while so will be harder to find him up close in a pedigree. Most of his sons would likely be dead too. Usually see him in the 3rd or 4th generation.

Now…his full brother “His Majesty” is a bit easier to find…but again further back in most pedigrees.

Maybe throw a post over in the Racing forum…they may know where more sons are located.

Here is one who has come to my attention…I just keep going back to look at this pedigree, I find it so fascinating with old lines up so close. I have not yet contacted the owners (Naylee Farm in WV) to ask about him yet…he is getting up in years:

If you go to the Stallion Register, you can do a search for sons of Dixieland Band: http://www.bloodhorse.com/stallion-register/

The only one (besides Southern Success in the Stallion Register) that I could find a website for is Southland Blues - http://www.ahsumacres.com/stud.html

nothing wrong with Grausatk but Alydar is a very strong jump influence and it should be pretty easy to find a stallion with Alydar lines.

We have one…and offer great incentives for proven producing mares.

My understanding is that Graustark was very well respected as a broodmare sire - not so much if he is found through the top end of the pedigree. The same as Jambalaya Jazz …

Good luck in your search - none of my boys qualify for what you are looking for!

Just have to add that I love Alydar in a pedigree

I have a stallion that has Graustark in his pedigree, but it’s in his fourth generation

Here’s his Pedigree
