I recently posted asking for information about Veronicas Sir and Schembechler, and figured I’d go a step further in asking for help.
I am looking for older stallions - less public ones that you might know of in your local area probably - that have classic bloodlines up close such as the Ribot lines, Damascus, Herbager, Nijinsky, Halo,Transworld, Round Table, etc…
Again - I know of the ones at the big stud farms that are advertised well, but sometimes the older guys aren’t as advertised, or there’s a gem in someones back yard that was never bred alot, but is well bred and well conformed. I am asking here because there is a wealth of knowledge about these horses on this forum, and everyone here always seems so willing to help. Thanks so much for reading and helping me out!!

You might want to ask over on the SportHorse Breeding forum. Some people over there stand TB stallions that are from the older lines.
There is a thread going on over there now with a fairly long list of TB stallions that are still active.
There is an older stud in Oklahoma, tail male Ambiorix, named French SeventyFive–or something like that.

I had looked at the Reines link before, but there aren’t many there that are still standing…
I don’t know if this is the sort of thing you mean, but there are two sons of Horatius who are listed as standing: one in Virginia by Rainbow Ridge Tack and Feed, and one in Colorado by Menoken Farms. You can find them if you ask in the Bloodhorse Stallion Register.
Then there is Oakhurst Thoroughbreds in Oregon that stands close to eleven odd stallions for way cheap, including Dr. Litin (Broad Brush out of Winning Colors) and a Never Bend line stallion whose name begins with B.
They have a website, but I’m too lazy to look them up.
Highcliff in NY is also standing a Broad Brush son named Mr. Maybry or something like that.
Concern, another Broad Brush, stands in Oklahoma and is the sire of Good Night Shirt, Eclipse winning steeplechaser (hurdler) for this year.
Can you tell I’m interested in Domino? 
Here in WA we have Demon Warlock, who is one of only 2 stallions left in the western Hemisphere that descends directly from Gallant Man.
In last year’s stallion directories, there was a farm in Texas that advertised some older stallions that hadn’t had much of a shot at being good studs, who had some pretty old bloodlines. Of course, I can’t find the farm or recall the stallions’ names right now.
**Edit: The farm was Dormello Stud in Texas - it’s no longer listed anywhere. One of their studs was The Great Prize, a half-brother to Skywalker sired by Le Fabuleux. Another was Sharan, who was by Mill Reef. Anyone know the status of that farm?
Russian Courage stands at Cardiff Farms in CA. He is a son of Nijinsky II out of a Boldnesian mare.
We sold a Russian Courage colt last year, one of the most balanced athletic yearlings I have ever been around.

Dormello has High Estate. He’s the sire of surprise 98 Derby (the real one) winner High Rise. Both are very attractive horses (High Rise went to Japan at least for a while)good sporthorse types as well as racehorses. Good outcrosses for modern TBs too.

*I really like the get of this guy I’ve gotten to work with. I’ve met him in person but for the life of me I can’t remember his conformation - but all 4 of his get that I’ve dealt with from a 5 year old down to yearlings are built alike from different mares.
Maybe not quite so “old” lines…but not so popular stallions or breeding either around here.

Crusader is a G1 Stakes winner, bred by Paul Mellon, he now stands up at Foggy Bottom Farm in Geneseo, NY. Goregeous, athletic fellow - met him when I went up this past fall to pick up a weanling colt by him. He’ll be 23 this year, and he only covers a few mares a year but seems to do really well with getting them in foal. Even at his age, he looks amazing and moves really well - love this guy. My colt is a lot like him, except chestnut - very solid, great long lengs, really nice shoulder and hind end. His get seem to have a fair amount of success on the track, but the ones I’ve seen certainly look like they’d make great sporthorses, too. Take a look at him! Foggy Bottom farm has a website… just google search it. The owner is really lovely, too, easy to deal with.
the crusader sword babies that i’ve dealt with have all been very sweet, good minds, nice temperments. NOT the greatest conformation, but considering the mediocre mares that most of these babies were out of, i can’t pin it on him. That being said, i really like his breeding, and his pictures show a pretty decently put together horse. and people around me tend to think of CS horses as being consistent, not necessarily the most fabulous things, but will give you consistent efforts every time. I’d give him a second look if i had a mare that i though might cross well.
I would second Timex’s comment about the mare. Should have mentioned, my colt is out of a pretty nice Roberto line mare who has a good sporthorse build herself. Though I would say Crusader did improve on her a bit. Yes, very sweet temperment, very willing and easy to work with.
