Thoroughbred Stallions

I bred my mare year before last year to a TB in Louisiana

I bred my qtr mare to a TB Stallion Tigerline in Louisiana- they shipped me cooled semen and my mare took the first shipment. The filly is absolutely stunning- a chestnet with 4 white stockings and is refined but sturdy built. If they will do the same deal this coming breeding season I will breed again to him. This filly can go any direction and has a very very level head on her- much more so than her dam.

Go Fish, I have a very nice mare that I think would match well with AFR (would love to have that happen) – but I’m sure the distance would factor in. She’s not for sale, but would rather have her in production to a good stallion than just hanging out.

Thanks for the offer but I’ve already got two to breed this spring. They’re getting a little age on them and I can’t let them sit another year. So, a third mare is out of the question unless I want a divorce.

If I could sell my show mare I could probably talk DH into another broodmare. I’ll figure it out for 2012 for sure. I’m afraid AFR will retire before I get the chance.

Wow Integrity, that sounds like a great combination! Do you have pictures of the mare?
Here she is  She’s awesome!

It probably doesn’t help to know I am pretty sure his 1/2 sister has a white spot on her neck (that you can only see when she is wet because she, too, is gray) & that he himself has sired a very flashy non-gray filly from a plain bay mare, the filly having an interesting blaze & 4 high, jagged whites.

Re Sir Juli Go:
Ok you are making it very tempting to risk the 50% chance of a gray foal!

Integrity, wow she is gorgeous!

That is nice to hear. We are not that far away  I have added some new pictures of Golden Time to the website from this summer schooling at Palgrave. He is maturing into a lovely stallion! http://www.blazingcoloursfarm.com/goldentime.html

I am undecided which of my boys I am going to use on my own mares at this point. I will be using El Dorado on at least one mare but not yet decided who. I bred him to a nice Dutch mare of mine for a 2011 foal. I might repeat that cross… El Dorado is proving to be wonderful under saddle, has a great mind and certainly has the movement! I usually always breed Sato to one and Cloud Ten. I am starting to focus more on training, riding and showing so the number of foals I have over the next year or two will go down a bit.

I WILL be breeding Officer Cherrie to Tapit… That is exciting!! Officer Cherrie is currently carrying a Bernardini and just had a Tiznow this year.

If I was to chose an outside TB stallion, A Fine Romance sure had a great produce record!

thank you, April, that is very kind of you to say!
I’d LOVE to see some dilute AFR babies!

Very best of luck with your boys in the show ring this year, they are looking great!

Your most welcome! No one can argue with the results of his offspring!

And thanks  I look forward to the 2011 show season!

I will be breeding my Selle Francias mare to my TB stallion Noles. I’ve given up breeding racehorses as his first crop of 3 yr olds are showing as hunters. The one that raced and finished last or next to last all summer went to HITS Culpeper to school three weeks after his last race and jumped around like that is what he was bred to do. The others are super quiet 3 yr old hunters. So… no more race breeding for him. I bred him to the SF mare this year, but looking at her I think she lost it at some point. My one TB mare that is in foal to Valentino Z is due two weeks after the SF and she is much bigger. Oh well, Noles gets at least one mare in 2011. Since I have mostly TB mares, 3 will be bred and the lucky stallions are Deja Blue B, Cielo B and Figaro B.
I have 4 Noles coming two year olds that are getting broke now and a Noles coming yearling and that’s it for his TBs here. There are customers who bred to him for race breeding, but I think they are finding out the “kids” are slow. So, if you are looking for a small hunter producing TB, he’s it!

Our mare Everhope is going to All American
Advocata may go to Ambassador or back to Leroidesanimaux
Whitewater Maze is going to Repriced
Three more with ? :D
Do you mean Ambassador at Darby Dan? He looks very interesting and wondered what range his stud fee is in (says private treaty). Are you breeding for race or sport?

how small is he? The upfront Storm Bird, Terlingua, Key To The Mint, Never Bend, and Damascus are a sporthorse goldmine. The very bottom (dams damline) is the only weaker link. Any good confo pics? The one on PQ he is standing camped under and the ones on the website he is racing or standing camped under or has leg wraps on etc.

TKR - I wish you lived closer! I love the horses you have produced from your breeding program and would love to see our ‘bloodlines’ mesh.

Thanks to the people who have AFR on their someday list, or who have had kind things to say about him. Much appreciated.

HilltopfarmVA - I know the feeling! I used to breed racehorse too, and one day I remember saying to myself - as yet another horse came off the track and went into the show ring…as a hunter, eventer or jumper…
(with chagrin!) “I am breeding show horses!!!”

It should not have surprised me. I was very concious of the fact that a horse has a relatively short life on the track, and if a horse was beautiful, correct, athletic and had a good temperament their chances of a happy second life were much increased.
So when I choose both mares and stallions to breed them to I was always aware, and looked for certain pedigrees, and athletic types.

Certainly when I bred to AFR’s sire Brave Shot (GB) - my first thought when I saw his picture was “this horse can JUMP!!”.

I bred A Fine Romance to be a race horse too - but life takes turns, doesn’t it.

I haven’t finalized my breeding plans yet - but I will most likely be breeding my Trak mare by the GP jumper Ali Baba, and my English ** event mare by Catch the Thatch
to A Fine Romance.
There may be one more mare …what’s that baseball term?

We took in a new guy off the track this fall, and I’m dying to see what he’ll produce, so I’m hoping to cover a mare or two with him in the spring.
Truer Than True is a son of Yes It’s True out of an Exuberant mare - he won $ 235,501 in 55 starts and is one of the sweetest studs I’ve met in awhile (and my other guy Bad Actor is exactly the opposite of his name!).

Maybe breeding my Irish Sporthorse mare (3/4 TB, by my late TB stallion Lose That) to my young stallion Seattle Jones. He’ll add more of an uphill way of going and a little more leg/refinement. Of course if I got a clone of her that would be okay too! She’s the perfect amateur hunter/eventer.

Yes, that’s him http://www.darbydan.com/ambassador.html  I am not sure what his stud fee range is so don’t want to say, but I really like the Acatenango blood. We breed primarily for race, but with sport in mind as a fallback (so ours tend to mature a little later and have a historical pedigree and record for soundness. I really like Ambassador, even though he might not end up being popular here (I LOVE Lando!)

Does anyone know anything about this stallion? I stumbled across him this morning:

http://www.williamssporthorses.ca/stallionharvestmoon.htm

Oh so glad to see Harvey being advertised and I hope he will get used!

Just thought I would throw in that the 1995 stallion Rodeo xx has been approved by Oldenburg (GOV) and is on the 2011 roster. He is by Gone West out of a Damascus/Never Bend mare, stands at Oak Hill Ranch.

I love Harvest Moon! Susan Crotty in PA used to own him and he has some really nice youngsters down in her area that did well on the line and I believe went on to nice hunter careers after that as well

He isnt a registered TB so that might have some bearing on who might use him for their mares if the registration option is important as well. And no idea if he has any approvals in any of the WB registries either …

I haven’t made my 2011 breeding decisions, yet, but I currently have a mare in foal to Jones Hall. He did great in the hunters, and has the added bling as a bonus.
