I might have hacked the spelling on that bit, but I need to get my mare one of those in the loose ring. I have a 5” on her now, as normally that size works for her in other loose rings. Did you go up the 1/4” or the 1/2”? It seems they recommend going up the 1/4”, if I am not mistaken.
Also who has bit rentals besides dressage extensions? That might be an option too.
Centerline Style has a bit trial program. I bought my Verbinden through there. I was duplicating my trainer’s bit, so I just measured her bit.
I got mine during a bitting clinic and went up 1/2" from other bits, but I think the fitter just thought my bits were too small? But in my first lesson post fitting, my trainer commented on my bit being too big. I explained the clinic and we all love the results. You could contact a fitter that reps for NS, as some do consultations…
Actually the 5” inch one I am using now seems very snug, I was thinking about going ahead and getting a 5 1/2”.
I tried one 1/4" bigger than my usual and it was absolutely a no-go for my horse. I ended up going back to a different bit style, but would have tried 1/2" bigger than usual if I’d had a sense that the Verbindend would otherwise have been the right option. Seems like mouth morphology matters a lot to sizing this bit. I highly recommend a trial for this particular style if you’re used to more traditional snaffle shapes.
My mare rides in a 5 1/4 in sprenger, I sized up to the 5 1/2 in the verbindend and it worked for her.
You can also rent directly through NS’ USA distributor in Florida.
I sized up 1/4" and it fits very nicely. I ordered through Horse Bit Bank
