I know these are not the Cadillac of trailers. That being said, I am looking at getting a slant load 2 horse bumper pull as a “run around” trailer. Interesting that there is a Shadow dealer with one in stock priced 2k less than a new 4 star Runabout (and I can’t find those in stock anywhere to look at). Thoughts and experiences please and thank you.
Hi. Here was a fairly recent discussion of these two brands.
I bought a new trailer about 4 years ago. I looked at lots of trailers, including some 4 Star and Shadow brand trailers. There is no doubt that the 4 Star is a higher quality trailer. However, the Shadow is a good quality trailer and given my intended use (local hauling) and the price difference, I felt the Shadow was a better option. In the end, I narrowed it down to two trailers, a Shadow and an Equispirit. I went with the Equispirit because they offered a floor plan I liked better (front unload ramp, straight load, tack closet instead of dressing room).
I have a 2010 Adam 2H straight load gooseneck I bought lightly used from a dealer, and I love it. Hauls well, super spacious interior, the original owner had some very cool add-ins to the dressing room (stairs to gooseneck plus built in storage boxes). I’ve seen some very nice other Adams out there too, and I absolutely think they’re worth looking into.
I’ve had Trailet, Sundowner, Hartman (back in the day) and hauled Sooner, Cotner and a couple more. For the money, you cannot beat an Adam. Smart safe design, airy, and super user friendly. I would buy another one in a heartbeat over anything else.
