Never mind that scandal-plagued Meydan is sponsoring the division while entering three riders AND providing the timing equipment. The organizers are allowing their jockeys to pick their own bib numbers. Should not this courtesy be extended to ALL riders? Well, I’ve ridden on some of the trails the past two days and it’s definitely not Breeder’s Cup footing. Granted, in some places the clearing is pretty dramatic, but it’s mostly where the trail crosses a paved road. We start hunting Thursday, the fixture is pretty much in the middle of our country, so I’ll see more of it then. What should I look for? Also, will they cross creeks? The most challenging features in the area are our creek crossings. White Oak Creek has steep banks, is deep, and in places where the channel is narrow, the current can be pushy.
