Thought you might enjoy this...

…Still hunting on Exmoor, and we have an equestrian vicar who came to bless our hounds

Thanks for sharing. I’ve never seen anybody riding in a cassock before.

Lovely hounds.

I remember meeting at that fixture! Wasn’t quite as bright and sunny as the video, however. But very classy. Whiskey and Port served to you on horseback in real glass glasses. D&S Foxhounds, yes?

D&S Foxhounds, yes

Nearly  D&S are the Devon and Somerset Staghounds, the meet on the clip was the Exmoor Foxhounds, but you were in exactly the right area:cool: When did you visit?

p’Aint - they are the best

That is lovely. Thank you so much for posting it. I hope the video will be up for a long time on your website! I’ve just e-mailed the link to a bunch of my friends!

Something I have always wanted to do.

And the hounds clearly felt the power of the blessing

since so many of them were literally bowled over by the vicar’s words.

Love it! The vicar was wearing a real helmet, too. How did he manage hunting in the cassock? I can’t see well tonight. It sort of looks like a riding rain coat?

so many of them were literally bowled over

:lol::cool:

Whicker, I have to come clean and admit that he didn’t hunt in the cassock - though I wish he would  He does however ride a horse called Sunday - really and truly  So at the moment we can justifiably say that the vicar only rides on Sunday…

I have a hunter called Angel, though, and am thinking that should be his second horse next season…

Love it! And I love the video, too. Thanks for sharing! I have sent the link to all my friends (whether or not they are horse people). I tried to post a comment on the site itself but it wouldn’t take it. Something to do with not having a Google ID, I think …

I have never before seen a cassock with a shoulder cape. Is that a regular C of E cassock, or a special outdoor/hunting one? I think he is brave to get up on a horse in one. I would never be able to manage mounting in one, and if I tried to put it on once mounted Blaze might not exactly stand for it.

At my first lesson barn, years ago, there was a big chestnut called Sun, whose real name was Sunday Morning as that was when he was foaled.

Thanks Wellspotted  Yes, you have to register to comment on the blog, only because I was getting spammed in languages I couldn’t read:(

Our last day hunting is tomorrow - very sad - good job we start again in August…!
