Thoughts on buying from Anna Merritt?

I’m looking for an FEI horse and the pickings are slim here in CA these days, with so many of our trainers having moved to FL.

I’m considering a trip to FL and I noticed that Anna Merritt has quite a few lovely horses for sale. Has anyone ever bought from her before, or bought a horse she’s trained? Feel free to PM me - not looking to cast aspersions on anyone, just to do my due diligence.

Thanks!

I dont know her but I do know that she shows regularly at WEC in Ocala, horses at all levels, with very nice results. Looked at the sales list, I would guess that the older horses she has on consignment, as opposed to putting the training on them herself.

Depending on what you are looking for you might also check Heidi Degele in Wellington area. She always has a list and gets what appear to be nice horses. I looked at one of hers several years ago but it was not my ride. https://heididressage.com/

Thank you - that’s very helpful. I’ll definitely check Heidi out, too.

I have met Anna and a good friend sent her horse to her for training and hosted clinics with her and cannot say enough nice things about her. She is young but she seems to have very good connections with a variety of horses for sale at any given time. They are all out of MY budget but they are nice horses!!

Anna is a lovely rider and person. I would have no qualms about buying from her. In fact two years ago I tried a horse she had for sale (not a good match). I’ve known her for a number of years. She has done ride a tests for our GMO, and sometimes brings her horses to our schooling shows.

I tried one there too, a greenie arabian that she had put the training on - the horse was very nice and light to the aids. Anna was warm and inviting, I felt she was very genuine. And all the horses were well-kept and looked happy.
