Thoughts on "The Traveling Horse Witch?"

Every guru in a nutshell lol

Is that me or she has now less popularity? Unless she changed her facebook settings and I cannot see everything.

I’m not sure but there are some local trainers that have become enthralled with her. They have redone their whole “marketing scheme” and are even more active on social media. That being said, there are a lot less posts about clients now so it makes me wonder if getting entangled so deep into this stuff was a good business move.

I am seeing an increase in New England clinics having her as the “headline” clinician. People that I’ve personally worked with and respect seem enthralled with her. I don’t understand why she’s being given a platform at all.

Again she has not invented anything … MYOFASCIA RELEASE etc etc just wrapped in a different bow

I truly, don’t understand it. And I still have not seen any real “results” that would explain some well respected people who are jumping on the band wagon.

Look at some before and after from classical trainers. The results are the same … even better I would say.

Yes, definitely! But I meant I haven’t seen anything tangible from BTMM. So it’s weird to see so many getting sucked in and spending loads of money.

A proper mystery - taking advantage of novice people saying that ‘oh another thing which is going to fix everything’

That’s the thing there’s also a good number of people that are not novice! I just don’t get it.

It’s also true that a person could be a good trainer in terms of getting a horse going under saddle, but know nothing about body work and be quite susceptible to charlatans.

I’ve seen enough competent horse trainers or experienced ammies with gaps in their understanding of body work, hoof care, nutrition, even ground work. People also tend to be under informed or guillble about human nutrition, supplements, fitness, and body work.

True, although I personally think for some it’s that they truly want to be apart of something magical or “on the correct side” so badly that they will overlook a lot. I think people are signing up for the vibe more than anything but that’s just my impression from Facebook/Instagram.

I finally got around to poking around on what this is……and it sounds exactly like what I’ve been doing with my own horse using nothing more than a Posture Prep, the standard activation exercises/stretches/massage methods that can be picked up for free on YT and other equine physical therapy/massage type books.

FWIW, I think it absolutely works as piece of the puzzle….but you don’t need her to learn it. Everything I’ve done with my horse models the methodology and exercises that I’ve felt have helped with my own nerve entrapment type pain in my hip.

Exactly! This. I do a lot of things for my horse, including all the things that you mention above along with some Masterson method, some T-Touch, stretches, rocks, and bodywork that I learned from my local vet/DO – along with some other things my own vet taught me.

I also do Hillary Clayton’s core strengthening exercises along with walking over poles, backing over poles, straddling poles, doing core work on the ground, etc., etc. and tgat doesn’t include the ridden work! My horse is so supple and symmetrical after all of this that body workers, vets, and saddle fitters have remarked on it. And guess what? I paid next to nothing to acquire all of these skills. I just wish my students would do more of these things; more dedicated ones do.

I work on their horses occasionally but because it’s so physically intensive (and I am older, have chronic pain and a lot of arthritis), I try to keep it to a minimum. If I do it in addition to a lesson, I charge a little more – but it’s minimal.

This woman is a charlatan, plain and simple.

She is taking money from unsuspecting willing victims who want to “hop on the bandwagon of the newest cool thing”, and are gullible and impressionable. What I really hate is that she is actually making a lot of money doing this.:rage:

I agree. One thing I noticed in the videos of people doing their “pillar work”; they were manipulating their horses heads to get them to bring it down and keep it down. In my experience just holding their heads down doesn’t do anything. To me, that is about making people think they are doing something to justify spending the money; in other words, teaching a headset.

From my own horses, I know they can have their heads down, lick and chew, walk around in the “proper form”, and still be extremely tight in the shoulders and neck.

She is just the modern version of GaWaNi Pony Boy…with the faux Native American persona replaced by the airy-fairy gossamer, shimmery mystical guru.

Ugh. Pony Boy/Kevin. Him and his shtick, his lady groupies, his poor Appaloosa and his books.

The horse world always seems to have at another Poser du Jour on tap.

On equine-L he was known as GaWaN And Pull My Finger Boy if I remember correctly.

I wrote for, and worked for, the same publisher who put out his books. Ask me how much I enjoyed the book release parties and one particular Christmas soiree.
