Thoughts on "The Traveling Horse Witch?"

Yes, I completely agree – it really is revealing and illuminating - in the worst way. How people can be so gullible as to be sucked into these crazy cult like groups of charismatic charlatan narcissistic nut jobs is beyond me.

Celeste is offering her course 40% off with all proceeds going to wnc!

Or, people could just make direct donations for the same amount of money, giving $$ more quickly where it’s needed, probably learn more, and not risk drinking the koolaid.

And also not offsetting her taxes.

Yeah, this.

This also isn’t the first dose of “whack” that I’ve seen from the Progressive Hoof Care folk.

One of her followers is advertising that nerve release thing in my area with a big flyer calling it the new revolution in horse care. She’s saying she has a practice, so I guess she thinks she’s an instant veterinarian now. It really drives me nuts. Sadly, she got quite a few likes for her post. Sigh.

It’s definitely going to be seen EVERYWHERE soon I think. It’s the next big thing.

Yes! I was so disappointed to see a friend I went to farrier school with post supportive things of this Celeste person on Facebook. She’s in Australia and I’m in Ontario so we’re not close but I was very much ugh to see it.

There is a local person doing this craniosacral stuff here, and has been doing for a number of years. I’ve had her out a few times for my horse but she got in to some out there stuff and tried to say faces were changing shape after the work… too much. I’m all for holistic, but there’s a line.

I’m sorry to hear that Alicia/humble hoof is mixed up in it.

We may know some of the same people a person or two removed. One of my favourites, besides the face changing thing, is the thin(ish) very awkwardly growthy horse going through remarkable changes due to this “work.” Uh huh, I’m sure the new shape of the horse has NOTHING to do with growth and being allowed to become obese.

Oh, I haven’t seen that one…

So I rode in a dressage clinic over the weekend (not a BTMM related one lol.) It made me think of this thread. She’s was a very qualified trainer, a gold medalist, judge and certified USDF instructor. Anyways the first day was very normal dressage stuff (straightness, keeping my horse from going BTV and staying poll high.)

But the second day was more holistic. And I was thinking how different it all was from the whole BTMM thing. She took us through some basic body manipulations/movements on the ground as a warm up. Mostly at the halt. Subtle things but tangible things. And man. My horse LOVED it. Lots of releases. Even stretched his hind legs out in a full extension even though we didn’t touch his legs.

Then I got on, we did a similar version under saddle. And off we went with a relaxed and connected horse. It was wonderful. Cost me a lesson price of $150. And nothing pretentious about it. It was cool.

Interesting! I’d be curious to hear what kinds of manipulations/movsments? Like stretches?

Not really stretching but just like gentle movement. Like on was poll flexion but not from the bit (while on the ground.) like very gentle asking for flexions with his nose, laterally. And even back and forth (more in extension and opening the poll.)
Then the neck, by placing your hand at the scapula, gently and guiding his head into more of a true bend. Then next was asking him to step under with his hind leg, like TOF but not so officially. More by very gently asking him for one step.

The motions were not anything new to me but HOW she did it was very different and my horse responded SO well. It was worth the 20 minutes of what probably looked like boring work. Lol

Or, she could just donate by herself without profiting off of others at the same time.

Right, and for some reason I’m just not confident that money would ever make it out of her pocket…:thinking:

There is an excellent docuseries on Max right now, “Breath of Fire”. Guru Jagat gives HUGE Celeste vibes. It’s definitely worth a watch to gain insight on the kinds of folks who would pay more than three hundred bucks for a bunch of videos about energy work. Ye gods.

For Canadian viewers, it’s on Crave (which streams Max). I actually listened to a podcast about her a while ago and it’s fascinating. I think it was on the Scamfluencers podcast.

Ugh that is really disappointing. Definitely agree with @MorganMaresVT that there is woo woo overlap in the progressive hoof care world but having her as a conference presenter is disheartening.
