Thoughts on this mare as a potential sport horse dam?

Hi all,

I have recently acquired the following mare, What’samatterdaddy, and am curious to see opinions on her worth as a sport horse broodmare.

She full TB, by Lite the Fuse, out of Wilds Best Turn (by Wild Again).

Her pedigree is interesting to me because she’s an outcross. She does have Swaps 5x5, but that’s it.

ETA: She is beautifully put together; her free walk and trot are to die for. I haven’t free jumped her yet, but will do so soon.

Disclaimer since this has come up before: I do have experience with foals (ex-NICU vet tech), I have a safe and suitable place to foal out, as well as having access to excellent trainers that do take young horses and bring them along.

Thanks!

Can’t see the picture. Check your link?

I can’t see the picture either.

Based on pedigree alone she should be a good mover. I don’t think her pedigree is spectacular but I like Rock Talk and Buckpasser a great deal, prefer them closer. Rock Talk was a super mover.

I will be honest, I haven’t liked many Icecapade horses I’ve seen. My general impression with them have been soundness issues and find them good lower level horses. I think a lot of it has to do with the mare obviously, but I haven’t ever been overly impressed with any of his get.

I suppose the better question is what exactly are your goals for the foal? Upper level? Just for funsies? The answer is the same for me: unless she proves herself remarkable I don’t see the need to breed any mare.
