The biggest mistake with regards to Karen Oconner is that her horse should not have been there…period. He simply did not have enough miles under his belt to handle this course.
I agree with your last comment Snoops, but who else did we have that was “short listed”? Buck & Reggie?? His horse is only 8- younger, and arguable as green as Karen’s horse.
Bonnie was out with a lame horse
Heidi was out with a lame horse
that only left Karen & Buck. IMO, the selectors made the right choice with what they had.
In an ideal world Corrine would have been there to pick up the slack but we all know that is politics at its best

I have no answer other then the fact that the US had to take what was left…not a good situation and one that is happening more frequently.
Speaking of politics… I think Jennifer and The Good Witch should have been considered much more seriously for this event… That mare would have eaten up that course… But, it seems the powers-that-be still have a hard time taking the West Coast seriously…
I’m positively thrilled for Gina Miles and the big guy… There were a lot of neigh-sayers on the BB when they were selected and all I can say is – HA!!!
If they happen to bring home an individual medal – prepare for a really big “smug alert”!

I totally forgot about that fabulous mare! I LOVE her!!! She would have eaten up that course.
bangs head against wall can’t believe I forgot The Good Witch. I was rooting for her to make the sacred list. On top of being a general bad@$$ she is a mare, earning top points in my book.
I was just on the phone discussing this and said that I’ll bet the response to this will be anything but rider error…after all americans do not make mistakes do they, it was someone else’s fault, or when one does not want to take responsibility…it becomes bad luck.
I resent the implication you are making as my statement came not from the stereotypical “tendency” to avoid assigning blame that you mention, but rather from a desire to avoid assigning blame when I wasn’t there riding the course. Also, I did not actually see either Amy’s fall or Karen’s run outs due to the video stream buffering, and I’ll be the first to admit that I couldn’t have given half the ride Amy and Karen did. If there’s blame to be assigned, I’m sure that Amy, Karen, and Becky will be the first ones to say so–and from what’s been said here it seems that Karen and Becky have already acknowledged their mistakes. I stand by my statement that Karen did a good job with a young horse who was a little green for this course and that Amy was trying to stay on top of a horse that came out breathing fire. If they feel that they didn’t ride their best, that’s for them to say, not us, and no matter how you ride, some days it’s just not your day.
Still, Phillip, and Gina in particular is in the hunt for an individual bronze, and I’m rooting for her. She’s a great rider on a lovely horse and I enjoy watching them.

sorry you are “resentful”…
Why so bitter? You made a comment that was immediatly corrected, what’s up, can’t <whatevernationalityyouare> ever admit they are wrong?
I saw many lovely rides last night, Gina looked Marvy, I can’t wait for Stadium!!
