You’ll need a grounds pass. If you have a local Kroger store that is participating in the promotion, you can get one (if not sold out) for $25. Otherwise, they are 25 or 30 bucks, and then there are the 50% or more add on fees.
The one volunteer perk is a free grounds pass for all 16 days.
Thx Viney
Guess we’ll go Krogering on the way down.
Much appreciated.

Actually, when I look at the events schedule…on x-country day, there is not a grounds pass available for purchase, making me assume that if you have a x-country ticket, you won’t need a grounds pass for that day. Also, on the WEG tickets site, the grounds passes are listed as $25 vs. $30, so not sure if they dropped their prices, or if Kroger is selling for $20.
I wish there was some more clarity on this, as I have tickets for the dressage freestyle on Friday night, the x-country on Saturday and stadium on Sunday. Do I seriously have to purchase a grounds pass to access the shopping if I already have tickets? That would be a bit ridiculous. As a trade show participant, I would be a little upset at this too.
Hopefully this is not the case.
Okay…I just reread, so the OP didn’t have tickets for Friday, so would have to purchase a grounds pass. That makes sense. I was starting to get a little upset.

Okay, a little off topic, but I am a volunteer, not working cross country day - do I need to buy a seperate ticket to watch cross country if I already have a grounds pass? Way back when I was told that the grounds pass would get me into cross country, but now I see different tickets for cross country. It’s all kind of confusing to me. TIA!!
Lamma70, An event ticket includes the daily grounds pass for all shopping and other free things.
The grounds pass fee was less annoying to me when I realized that the admission to the Horse Park on an ordinary day is $15.
Probably.
I’d contact Carrie Everett and ask.

So, I have tickets to Freestyle Friday night, was planning on coming back Saturday to do all my shopping. Online it says pass is $45 for Saturday (x-country). I have to pay $45 just to come shop???

Haha…I just got the September Volunteer newsletter, and it has this little tidbit in the sidebar
"Quick Fact
What events can volunteers watch at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games with only a grounds pass?
Answer: Endurance, Cross Country, and Driving Marathon".
I guess that answers my question…and saves me $45!!
Yes, because on xc day (and endurance day and driving marathon day) there is no way of differentiating between people who just have grounds passes and people with tickets to the events, since all those events are just out in the open on the, well, grounds. Go shopping on any other day, and it’ll only cost you $25 (or, better yet, shop all day Friday before the freestyle, and you won’t even need a grounds pass).
