Time to helmet shop…

I currently have a Trauma Void EQ3. It is 6 years old so time to think about replacing. This helmet fits me well and I like it but is a real brain boiler. It does have MIPS. I really want a helmet that has better ventilation.

I would like to keep the cost in the $150-250 range. What helmets have you found provides decent ventilation.

TIA, Susan

The EQ3 is more round, yes? You should try the CO Kylo. I have an oval head and usually have luck with CO but this one was too round for me. It was light and airy, though perhaps not as much as some of the less “hunter showing” styled models.

I am also helmet shopping and I hate it. I’ve missed two weeks of riding because I can’t find something that fits, and I fell hard on my old one so there was no using it again :sob:

I just bought a new helmet. I ended up with the IRH IR4G, which is the top of the line for the IRH brand. I did not anticipate buying this helmet as I had a larger budget, but I found it to be the only one that fit my semi-oval head beautifully. In fact, it fits exactly like the One K. It comes in small, medium or large sizes, and not in the finer details of centimeters or eighths of an inch. Lots of options as to color, matte, gloss or decorative accents. Got mine for under $200.

Love the Uvex as well.

Super comfortable dial fit, great ventilation, lots of different models/styles … all made in Germany by one of the top downhill ski helmet manufacturers in the world. Top quality, without spending a ton.

I believe so. I seem to hsve a roundish little noggin. We have no local sources of English riding gear so I will just have to order and hope it fits. I really don’t want to get into the return merry-go-round.

Will check out all the above. Yesterday I was riding. Temp was 76. Sun was shining, nice breeze and my head was sweating buckets. Can’t wait for the 80’s, 90’s and 100’s (oh forget riding on these days) of the summer.

Another vote for the Uvex. Very comfortable and lightweight. I am sometimes in it for 5-6 hours, and forget it is on my head.

For anyone interested we have a Facebook group devoted to all the MIPS equipped helmets.

The far and away newest and safest helmet is the ARRO which is the only MIPS equipped helmet to have passed the SNELL certification.

Great helmet and they are coming out with a deeper fit and some smaller sizes.

Beyond the Arro, there are all the normal players as well.

We have VT updating their study results every few months and a few more studies coming likely next year. The new FEI mandated Helmet changes should cause some positive changes as well.

If you go to Facebook and search “MIPS Protection System Equestrian Helmets” you will find it.

We have a ton of brand reps, tack shop employees, more info about who carries what and how to be fitted live and virtually. I tried to make a useful group and 5 years and 4900 people later, it’s kicking right along and helping people to choose the best helmets for their heads!

The best helemt is the one that fits your head!
That said, I wear the IRH IR4G.
OneK is a pretty good fit for me too, but the IRH is perfect.
I have yet to find a MiPS helmet to fit my head.
