Tip the person who delivers your horse trailer?

He is driving it from a large dealership two hours from here. He is a “service manager” at the business. It’s a two-horse bumper pull, just in case that matters to the answer.

Tip or no tip? If yes, amount?

I only tipped the delivery guy $50 for my trailer. But at least he could have a good dinner on his way back to the business.

You are already paying the dealership for the trailer. The guy is most likely making more than minimum wage and on the clock during the delivery trip. Unless he goes above and beyond somehow I would consider the delivery just part of doing business and not tip.

My trailer was delivered from Wisconsin to Florida. The driver did not work for the trailer company, but rather was an independent contractor. I tipped the driver $50.

The driver didn’t just drop the trailer off, she want over it with me and opened all the doors, operated all the latches, and locked and unlocked all the locks to make sure I was familiar with everything and satisfied with the trailer.

I don’t think it’s necessary to tip the driver, but it seemed appropriate and the driver was very appreciative.

Yeah the guy brought mine down to GA from WI and he went over everything with me and showed me everything. And he was pleased to get that paltry $50.

OK - I think I’ll have some cash ready, and if it goes OK I’ll give him some dinner money for the trip home.

Thanks everyone!

It’s here! And the young man who delivered it was so very nice - he was in the vicinity for a prison ministry he does in Hondo TX. But there was a riot at the prison Friday and the ministry was cancelled. So he used the time to sleep many hours at a motel in Hondo, and we met at the barn today.

When he had disconnected and explained things, and I’d signed my papers, he threw out his arms and said “I’m a hugger!” and within a nanosecond I was wrapped in his arms and left smelling of his cologne, very pleasant side benefit of a free trailer delivery, for this lady of a certain age.

I gave him $60 ‘dinner money’ and he was reluctant to take it for about two seconds, then drove off happily in his fire-engine red spotless Ford dually. A rather Texas feeling experience!
