According to the size chart, I am exactly in between sizes for both chest and waist. Any experiences with whether it’s better to size down/tall or up/regular?
I sized down when I got my Tipp a few years ago. There is room to expand with the lacing on the sides. They tend to be longish, so I would also go with shorter spine measurement than longer if you’re in-between. If you’re buying from a reputable retailer, you should be able to return the vest if your guesstimate ends up being wrong.

Agree with this ^ ^ ^.
Down, esp if you are female. I found out they are sized by ribcage not chest size. Since they are technically unisex
Excellent, thanks all!
Also agree that the lacing allows for more flexibility than the overall length, which can’t be adjusted.
Tipps tend to be long behind. I suppose intending to cover the lower spine. But they can end up pushing off the saddle from behind if they are too large, even if they fit in the chest.
When you try one on for size, be sure to try it sitting down as you would on a horse. Make sure the lower back of the vest has saddle clearance.
Does the size chart accurately represent the length? I am between sizes for chest and waist, but right on the length measurement for the larger of the two sizes. The difference (2”) between the lengths of the two sizes is the same difference as ordering a tall.
Eh, I’d probably better just order both a reg and a tall in the smaller size and return the one that doesn’t work.
Yeah, I think you are better off doing that. Be sure and get on a horse wearing both, and do some posting trot. Don’t mind those tags floating in the breeze while you decide.
Just my opinion - aside from the actual length, there is the way the rider sits in the saddle. Straight and tall. Slouchy. Upright but rounded shoulders. Good posture but stays behind the center of balance with shoulders well back. Those things affect how the back of the vest will reach the saddle, or not, regardless of length.
I wish there were an easy way to add or subtract a row or two at the lower end of the back of the vest. I too am somewhat between sizes, but closer to the larger size - but the back length is too long and pushes it up from behind.
