Tips for making white boots white again?

I know, I know… buy black or brown boots in the first place! But these were a great bargain when I bought them!

I have an older set of Eskadron open fronts and fetlock boots that have signifcantly yellowed… wondering if anyone has some sort of miracle recipe for re-whitening the plastic?

Oxi-clean and original blue dawn are normally my go to.

I agree with bugsynkeeter’s advice. I have white neoprene type Woof boots that are looking pretty beige-y as I school in sand arenas. I wash periodically with Ivory soap, but they’ll no longer look show-clean. Got a new pair of Professionals Choice all purpose boots that are a vented material that seems less moisture and stain absorbent, but time will tell.

As long as I don’t spend more than $40-$50 on boots, I don’t mind getting new ones every year or so. Obviously I don’t own Eskadrons! But white boots always look sharp on a dark horse’s legs!

Is it the plastic part that has yellowed? If so, try scrubbing hard with Comet or some other abrasive-type cleaner. I’ve seen people soak in bleach or peroxide but I’m not sure if that will damage the other parts of the boot. I know someone who used sandpaper to sand off the yellow on a set of knockoff Eskadrons, but I’m not sure I’d do that!
