Tired of scammers and haulers not registered with DOT

[Edit]

They are on Facebook as well and run a page for legal transporters only and check profiles thoroughly to keep scammers out called Find Legal and Insured Transport (vetted page-US only)

I miss the Facebook days of buying a horse pretty much anywhere in Canada. Posting " looking for a ride" on FB and getting the options of either professional haulers or people coming through. I’ve used both options lots. Sent e-transfers to the private people just coming through and received a horse in great condition for a super fair price every time.
Now? You can’t trust that. It’s DISGUSTING out there.

Same with buying saddles on FB. Do you know how many times I sent $800-$1500 to a total stranger and actually received a saddle? A LOT! And same with selling!
Now… there’s no bloody way. Last one, I asked the seller to bring it to a well known tack shop. Sent the tack shop the fee and had them pay her, and ship it to me. Paid tack shop $100 for the service which was more than fair I think.

Facebook is a dirty dirty place these days.
