TMJ pain/symptoms

Not sure if you read the information from Atlanta Equine Clinic, OP, but it may be worth discussing some of those treatment options with your vet. Good luck. I know how hard it is to try ti figure out what’s going on, and then how to treat it.

Hi - yes! I have seen that site and agree the information seems credible. I have an appointment set with the vet for next Friday. Having the trainer hop on early next week to see if there is any change. I did some ground work, stretching, and large walk circles on the lunge (using the whole ring) this week and we made some progress. However, it’s hard to tell if he’s just trying to be a good boy or if he’s starting to feel better. He did lick/chew immediately when I put his BOT cap on last night so if nothing else, hopefully that is helping him a bit.

Im currently dealing with a TMJ issue at the moment. Horse was showing dramatic balance issues in lope, took him to vet thinking neuro and he lit up in the TMJ in bone scan. Tomorrow we are moving forward with X-rays. Of course Im trying to find as much info as possible before hand to come prepared with questions. Curious to know the outcome with your horse? Any progress?
