Looking at the results of the pony classes and in the green smalls one pony has “to be measured” next to its name. Does that mean it was protested? Or randomly chosen? Anyone know? Just curious, no connections to kid, pony, or trainer.
My guess would be it doesn’t have a pony card yet and needs one to officially compete in that division.

I didn’t think you were allowed to enter and compete in a pony division if your pony hadn’t gotten a measurement card yet…
No pony is supposed to get a number in the show office, much less set foot in the show ring, until it either gets measured or presents a measurement card.

Well then, my guess might be wrong.

What would have caused that to be added next to the pony’s name ?

I have no idea. The USEF rules are quite clear:
SUBCHAPTER HU-10 MEASUREMENT
HU170 General
- Horses or ponies competing in any division, section or class where height is a requirement must be measured. Measurements will be conducted in accordance with HU171.1 below.
- Competition Management is required to check measurement cards for horses or ponies showing in divisions, sections, or classes where height is a requirement. Management shall not provide a back number to an animal entered in such sections unless the exhibitor or his agent is in possession of:
a. the original or a copy of a measurement card issued by the Federation. Equine Canada measurement cards are not acceptable proof of height.
b. a copy of a valid measurement form.
According to the results for the same show on the Hits site, one of the riders to get a ribbon in the USEF Medal class was Aaron Vale. So it’s possible the results may not be absolutely accurate.
Well congratulations to Aaron! It’s great to see he’s still doing well in eq
Probably just part of a list the secretary was making to give to the steward prior to measurements. Most likely meant to be deleted before results were added.

Yes, congrats to him, although he was only 4th.

Maybe he choked up in the test. Those trot jumps are tricky devils.

Yes, he probably doesn’t trot too many jumps in the Grand Prix ring. Not on purpose, anyway.
Curse the trot fences. Alas, this means there is still hope for me.
