Today is a very sad day. Fred (aka A Fine Romance) has left us

So difficult when they must leave. RIP Fred.

Such sad news. My heart goes out to Gail and all of his connections. So very sorry for your loss.

Hugs, Gail. Fred is playing in a field in heaven with all of his progeny.

I, too, read Gail ’ s FB post early this morning and gasped, and then cried. I’ve been moved to tears all day, not only for the loss of such a magnificent TB sire, but because I know how much Gail and Garnet are grieving. My heart hurts for them. RIP beautiful Fred.

So sad for your loss Fred.
A Fine Romance was always on my wish list… not that I had any opportunity to buy or breed. He was just my answer to: “If you could have any horse in the world.”
He was a spectacular animal.

My heart broke for Gail this morning when I read the news. He was a lucky horse to have been so loved start to finish.

Gail, my heart goes out to you for your loss of Fred. I am so, so sorry.

RIP Fred

:frowning: ((((((((HHHUUUGGGSSS)))))))) to Gail and Garnet and all Fred’s friends.

So sad to read this news. Hugs to Gail and her family. Such a great loss.

Gail, I am so sorry for your loss of such a wonderful horse.

RIP beautiful Fred-so talented, beautiful, brave, elegant and so loved by many especially his Gail who always did right by him.

Gail, I’m so sorry for your loss.

I knew of Fred, of course, from these forums and for some of his better known progeny. I had just started following him on Facebook a few days ago - a good friend of mine has one of his daughters and I realized he had a Facebook page. I was so shocked and saddened to read the news this morning. Beyond devastated for Gail and Garnet - it was always clear that their lives revolved around him. RIP Fred - gallop free.

Gail, I am so sorry. RIP Fred.

Fly with the eagles Fred. My heart goes out to you Gail. You honored him with your loving care and will treasure him with your memories.

So very sorry to hear the sad news :frowning: :frowning: It was always nice to read about Fred Somehow he was a part of COTH RIP Fred

Condolences to Fred, it is always hard to lose the ones you have such a bond with.

I have a gelding so clearly I don’t know much of nothing about breeding sport horses. I do know, however, what its like to own that horse who is beyond special. I could always tell that AFR was that horse to Fred. Run free, beautiful boy, and think kindly of your humans and ease their grief.

Many cyber hugs to all his connections!

I saw the news and was simply heartbroken for Gail. I can’t imagine how awful this is for her. Fred was more than just a horse of a lifetime, their relationship was so close.
Only a few days ago she posted a lovely pic of him out in the spring grass and I just sat and stared at that pic, admiring his beauty and strength. In a still shot his grace and balance shone though as if it were a video. He was magnificent.

Dying is part of living, and it comes to everything under heaven. My condolences to those he left behind who loved him.
