Toddler show clothes

I did a search, but I didn’t find any threads recent enough to be very helpful.

I have two small children, son who is 4 1/2, daughter who is 2 1/2. I’d like to do a local leadline class with them. Where is the best place to find jodphurs and probably just a polo? I can’t justify buying a show coat and shirt, unless it’s a screaming deal. They both have helmets already. Son wears 5T/5, daughter wears 2T/3T.

Thanks!

Just for Ponies

I would attach the links, but I am not very tech oriented. But google them.

might try The Hitching Post in Middletown Kentucky, they used have new and resale kid’s show clothing

Back on the early 1990s we got some of show gear for out kids there (the youngest two were the ages of OP’s children)

I see they still are carrying children’s ware

For a truly local schooling show, I’d just look for polos and tan leggings at Walmart. Or ask a local trainer/association. We have a stash of leadline clothes at our barn and a local mom with a bunch of her kids’ things that get shared year in & year out.

Try The Tried Equestrian!

My favorite secret weapon for myself. Not sure if they get stuff in as small as toddler, but I’d imagine there’s a good resale market for it.

Maryland Saddlery tends to have consignment leadline stuff as well. Old Navy good for polos shirts.

This. It’s easy to turn leggings into something that looks very much like jods simply by turning the bottom of the leg up twice and tacking the resulting “cuff” in place. You can attach a piece of elastic to go under the boot with the same stitches you use to tack the cuff in place.

There is a Facebook group for children’s and ponies’ apparel and tack (no ponies). Search some of those terms in Facebook groups and it should turn up. I was an admin years ago and there were 20k members IIRC.

I just noticed foxhuntingshop.com had a lot of kids stuff on final sale . They are closing down the website….

Thanks all! I am going to try to convince our head trainer to have a leadline class at our next show.

Please come back with pics! Leadline makes (almost) everyone smile

May I ask what helmet you use? I have a toddler who I’d like to give a pony ride to on my 30 year old but won’t put her up without a helmet. Would love something adjustable/dialable to get her through a few toddler years, if that’s a thing that anyone knows of? Thanks!

The toddler size helmets are best for the really little kiddos. I first purchased a Tipperary sportage toddler helmet. It works well for the very little kids. Alternatively, Ovation makes the Deluxe Schooler in an XXS/XS that works well on the very little ones. I would have preferred the Ovation since it’s dial fit and easier to adjust, but the Sportage worked fine. My kids have outgrown that one, so now we used an IRH Equi-Pro II in a Small/medium. It also comes in a small, so unless you have a very small child it may work as well.

Thank you!!

I have the ovation schooler deluxe in XS and it has fit a variety of kiddos 3-6.

No updates from me (OP). I did find some small sizes on 2nd Round Equestrian that would work for my kids, but the one local opportunity for leadline was held at a show I wasn’t able to attend. We have a few more local show opportunities this year and I haven’t ruled out asking my trainer if I can sponsor a leadline class at one of our two remaining home shows.
