Tolegro!

Interested in knowing has any one breed to him? Heard his semen quality is excellent… I really like his pedigree it is superb!!

Rolling Stone Farm used him on a Stedinger mare. I realized this after I bought a him for my Stedinger mare. I’m looking for a quicker hind leg and more freedom in the shoulder while keeping a nice top line and neck, so hopefully he’ll produce that. I’ll be watching to see what he produces before I use it. If he doesn’t seem to throw what my mare needs, I can sell the semen and use a stallion who does. With the semen prices going up so quickly in recent years, I bought it while it was still relatively inexpensive.

All I can say is Superior Equine Sires is having a sale and Tolegro is 600 a dose  Why not?

Does anyone know what his performance testing status is? Has he done a 30DT yet?

Doubt it. He is a 2011 model so he turned three this year and aren’t stallion tests held in the fall/winter? So he should be due to participate this year correct?

30 DTs used to be done in the spring or early summer (at least, for some registries). 70 DTs were usually in the autumn. I don’t know what the schedule is these days, but I think a lot of the 30DTs are now done in the late summer or in the autumn for 3 y/o’s.

This is his first season standing at stud isen’t it? He is homozgous black I am pretty sure,I know he dosen’t produce chestnut foals because it says on his website.
Does Superior Equine Sires ship frozen semen to Australia?

Bump…

Tolegro semen

We are pretty excited to have two Tolegro foals arriving in 2015 in Alberta Canada. The one will be out of an Elite PROK Imported KWPN Loma Line mare, and the other is out another imported mare, with KrackC, Ferro, Flemmingh, Wolfgang and Aktion bloodlines. very happy and both concieved on first try with Tolegro Frozen

What kind of mare (in terms of type and movement) did you breed him to?

What do you expect him to produce from your mares? (Obviously we don’t know how he will produce yet)

I think without offspring on the ground, you are hard pressed to have specific expectation. Like breeding to any young stallion, you hope that he throws some amazing offspring and you are ahead of the curve. If he holds true to his breeding at all, it should be exciting to see the offspring.

Oh yes. I know that and why I’m waiting to use my semen until some are on the ground. I’m curious what peoples expectations are. Look into the crystal ball. LOL. Maybe I should have worded it differently.

Right now it’s a pie in the sky question. It’s fun (at least to me) to take what’s known from the pedigree and try to predict what will come through. And then look back to see how accurate it was.

I think Tolegro has exciting bloodlines… however, it bothers me that a Dutch-bred horse goes to Germany to be approved for breeding and my imagination goes into overdrive! In Holland a stallion candidate has to have clean x-rays (yes, there are two exceptions to this, but those were widely published). In Germany there is not nearly as much emphasis on that aspect…

So, as much as I like the bloodlines and the horse, I hesitate to find out the hard way that a foal I’ve sold later on requires OCD surgery…

Is there anything back in the pedigree that has been suspected to produce OCD or has had bad X-rays?

I’m not particularly concerned about there being any more wrong with him than any other young stallion. I don’t think Bernadette Brune would have purchased him without thorough vetting.

in australia you can buy tolegro semen from waterview park or elite frozen foals
Paulamc

This is how detrimental rumours get going.

Bernadette Brune saw Tolegro as a new born on Facebook, fell in love with the elegant foal and when he was (very young) I believe under 3months old travelled to see him and purchased him. As per the Euro dressage newsletter http://www.eurodressage.com/equestrian/2014/01/21/totilas-son-Tolegro-stand-stud-stall-bockmann
He was licensed in Germany because he lived there since he was weaned from his dam and his owner is German, so it is a very simple story of why he licensed in Germany. No cloak and dagger or hidden agendas.

The mares I crossed him with are very well conformed dressage performance bred mares. Zuloma is an imported keur PROK mare of the famous Loma line and sired by Sandro hit. Her mare line has produced many stallions. She has no conformation flaws that I am trying to improve on and she produced many quality offspring. Herself. Therefor, I felt she was a really good candidate to use on an unproven sire with an impeccable pedigree. The other mare I bred to Tolegro is also a mare I imported, she carries the talent of Redford, krack C, Flemmingh, ferro, Wolfgang, and Aktion. She has produced 5 foals for me, and all but one have been sold to upper level dressage riders. Again this is a well conformed mare with talented movement herself, she does not challenge my confidence in breeding to an unproven sire as I believe he brings multiple strengths to the mix and these are truly attempts to breed quality to quality. I am very excited for these two mares to foal next spring.

Doreen, I will definitely be keeping an eye on Key Warmblood’s fb feed next year as I am very interested to see those foals, they sound like very good crosses.
