Tongue over bit

Maybe just spitballing things while my trainer is away? The tongue thing first happened with her, or first that I noticed. Then later w me. So it’s a, is this an evasion that needs to be fixed now by a different bit or noseband, or something that will go away when the horse accepts that contact will be life. I’ve appreciated the bit advice as this wasn’t something I considered.

I’m not sure why the hostility?

Why is COTH here if we aren’t allowed to ask questions? The only answers seem to be 1. Ask your trainer, quit posting here. Or, 2. Your trainer is crap, ask here.

Some young horses play around a little bit and if you ignore it and ride as if nothing is happening, they stop, as they get more relaxed and comfy with the situation. Maybe it is enough to check on the bridle/bit. Some horses play with the bit because they are bored, or stressed or in pain, maybe the teeth need to be fixed, maybe they don’t like the bit you use and prefer another … hard to say on distance. But this is why I like horses to be familiar with a cavesson (Vienna cavesson), because IF I have a young horse that is a bit tricky with the bit, I can go for the combination I suggested.
