Hello,
I have a 11mth old Furstenball colt with suspected DSLD. I am interested to know if you decided to do the biopsy on your lovely lad, and whether you have any up to date information? We don’t have any lameness issues just severely dropped pasterns in both hinds, one moreso than the other.

Hi Felicity, so sorry I’m just seeing this! So sorry to hear about your guy’s pasterns.

I haven’t yet biopsied. For some reason I just can’t get myself to do it. It seems unlikely that it is anything else and unfortunately he does continue to deteriorate.

He was diagnosed Sept 1 2016 and at his six month check in March, he was lame before flexions and his fetlocks have begun to drop. He’s quite uncomfortable in general despite previcoxx and a diet change.

I have had several people suggest nutritional changes, mostly regarding Proteins, and I do wonder had he been on a perfectly tailored feeding program since a foal if he would have had a better outcome/longer career

I have my fingers crossed for you! I’ll let you know if I do the biopsy and please don’t hesitate to ask if I can answer any other questions.
