MommaMare: Thanks for writing this- “somehow I knew that God was there - no voices or angels or stars, but He was there just as definitely as I was.” That’s a wonderful description of what it’s like to meet the living God. It’s a life-changing experience, not to be mistaken for “brain-washing” or any other human construct.
Thanks for all these interesting answers to my posts. I respect and honor all of your thoughts and as some of you picked up, I was only talking about my children, no one else’s. No insult intended, I love my atheist and agnostic friends and enjoy them.
There is one POV I do take exception to- that the Bible is like any other book. Technically, the words were “written down” by men, but to me it is the divinely inspired Word of God. I have seen it change lives forever as it has changed my life and those of my family. I prayed last Sunday that God would send my friend’s friend comfort in her 104 year old body. The answer to her question, “Why doesn’t God take me now:” turned up in the very next verse I taught: “For the Son of Man shall come in the Glory of His Father with his angels and then He shall reward every man according to his works.” Matthew 16: 27
This faithful Christian 104 year old lady is serving Jesus with every breath she takes and will be rewarded for this on Judgement day. This is the open, public promise of God. And that’s miracle enough for me.
