Hi there - we’re considering relocating to Charleston and you’ve posted in several groups and I’m hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction for boarding/living areas.
We both work from home so can be flexible about location, but my horse is of primary concern.
I should also mention that I lived in Charlottesville for 30+ yrs and now Southern Pines for nearly 5, so I am spoiled… I’ve also managed a couple top hunter/jumper barns and/or had my own barn so I know it’s going to be difficult to find a place.
I really must be able to ride out - foxhunting area??? Haven’t hunted in years, but might consider it if my young OTTB is agreeable.
I don’t show anymore, but would like to be in an environment where there was a good trainer to take lessons from and ideally a nice group of DRAMA FREE people to ride out with - realize this may be the most difficult of all.
Thought about moving back to Charlottesville which I love, but I really don’t want to be there in the winter and I’ve become spoiled with the sand footing here.
Have considered Aiken or Camden, but prefer to not be quite so remote. Also Ocala, but I have old friends from school in Charleston area, but they know nothing about horses.
One reason I chose not to move to Charleston when I moved from Charlottesville were the gnats, however when I visited my friend they were not as bad as I remembered.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jean
