Saw your post about cutting down a felt pad, i have a square one that hits my horses hips and thought if i just cut it it would unravel. Its very thin so did you stitch yours up or just cut it and leave it?
Thanks

No - no unraveling happened. I actually did two: one was a 1/4" thick felt western liner pad and I cut out a U shape for the entire withers area. It ended up being too thin but aside from that worked great.

Then I got a wither relief 1" thick western pad that was just two panels of felt with 2" wide nylon webbing along the spine, no binding. It also had a wither hole cut out with a little binding at the front edge to hold that together. I shortened the length by unpicking the spine webbing a little at the back end, cutting off about 6" of felt, and resewed the nylon with my machine. My machine complained but did the job OK

I can’t find a pic of the one I got but it was SUPER cheapo, worked great since felt is so stable and absorbent, looked really fugly but accommodated a regular English pad on top so that was OK.
Cheers
