Hi Anne,
I absolutely hope you will meet him, after Mr. Bargain Basement, “always sound, nothing wrong with him, perfectly healthy living in a lush pasture 24/7 and being a camp horse for a few weeks in the summer” gets a saddle that fits him, hoof boots to protect his thin soft soles, and some strength back in his sticky-from-lack-of-use stifles, gets it all together. SmartPak and Dover Saddlery are going to have banner sales this quarter. His name is Noble Defender, and he is an affectionate dork. Sigh. Boys. So cute, though.
Oh he sounds adorable! I know all about the horse sold as super sound and easy; after all, I own one! Are you keeping him at the same barn where you had Fanny?
I looked him up on allbreedpedigree, and hey, that is a fancy show-bred horse you have there. In a “small world” tale – Feronia’s settled in at the new barn in Ipswich near Groton House, and my new vet service was started by the Orcutt family… If you look in your guy’s pedigree and see “Orcland” horses, that’s the other thing they are known for, with 3 or 4 generations of the family having bred some very nice Morgan horses. In fact one of the vets who saw Feronia yesterday for hock injections and hoof radiographs was Dr. Robert Orcutt Jr. … son of “Dr. Bob” who was famous in this area for his Morgans.
