Hi there- looking at a horse from Hannover but am a little concerned about not sitting on it first. Can you tell me a bit more about what you asked for and ended up with? Thanks!
Wanderlust - I completely apologize, and realize this is almost a year after you sent me the message! I’m apparently not very good at understanding this thing. Did you end up getting a horse from Jenny?
Anyway, to any extent it might still be relevant. I bought a 4 year old from Jenny/Hannover in 2015. We were looking for a project, under 40k with all costs/import/vet, for a pro, to bring along, and be my eventual a/o hunter. It took a couple of months, but we were picky, wanted to stick to the budget and still get fancy and perfect vetting, and Jenny just kept sending more and more until we settled on him. The horse we got is very dressage bred, and moves very well. And he got ability to jump too - true athlete. He is now doing the 3’3" greens and I am hoping to do the 3’3" a/os next show - only done the adults so far. Obviously he was so young it was hard to represent him incorrectly, but a friend also bought a 6 year old from them about a year and a half ago, which was very well represented. She was looking for an amateur client, and the horse came here and stepped right into the show ring with a pro and amateur as described. I think Jenny is honest and I would buy from her again. I have noticed her prices seem to have risen in the last year or so, she is more popular. I also just bought another horse from another agent that I am very happy with and he has only been here a month or so.
However, I would say buying without sitting on them is definitely a risk, especially for an amateur, unless you know your likes/dislikes pretty well, can generally tell if the horse meets that criteria from a video, and feel confident if you don’t love riding it, you could market it relatively easy.
I hope you have found a horse in the last year! haha. Best.
