Awww… your post about Fanny was so amazingly kind… I assume you have forgotten about her cribbing, too.
I think I will take *%*#** (my new man) to Scarlet Hill for some hacking. He needs hillwork. However, he is horrible about being alone, and not a quiet trailer-er (he pretty much break-dances the whole way). Also, he has now knocked me down twice -- the first time was when I was trying to teach him to self-load on the trailer. The second time was Sunday. We had been riding with two other horses at Great Brook. The other two horses were continuing to ride for longer, so they headed off after I had dismounted and was holding a perfectly calm Noble at my trailer. Once they were out of sight, though, Noble freaked out, knocked me down, and took off after them, casting off bits and pieces of tack as he ran. The park rangers, after they saw that I was okay, were yelling, "Yard sale!" as Noble's halter, bridle, reins, etc. parted ways with a galloping Noble (I saw the bit sparkling in the sunshine as it flew thirty feet thought the air.......). His hoof boots stayed on, however. Fortunately, the other horses were just around the corner and he stopped when he caught up with them, and then was very subdued about being led back to the trailer (with a spare halter). Little shit. :-) I have to go get back on him now, to get over being nervous about him having knocked me down. We'll go see a natural horsemanship trainer who is really good at this stuff tomorrow, and then going forward, Noble might be sound enough to start visiting Auntie Meredith a few times a month, at Scarlet Hill.
However, my point was, if you would like to meet somewhere for a gentle hack, including Scarlet Hill, just let me know. Noble likes trails, especially with friends. We are still just walking and doing a very small amount of trotting. The lameness exam will follow in a couple weeks, after his treatment for Lyme is finished (Jeez, horse!).
Have a wonderful fourth of July! Noble’s barn is half a mile from the Lincoln, Mass fireworks so he will be drugged tonight. The BO says the fireworks shake the barn. Damn, I can’t wait until he is an “easy” horse. As per his sales ad.
