What do I do if the owner of the boarding facility doesn’t tell me that my horse was injured?
I have been having a few issues with the place I board but it has recently gotten out of hand. In the past two weeks I have been notified of a fire near the boarding facility but by another person other than the boarding facility manager. She had been notified of the fire but failed to let any of the boarders know until the wildfire was put out a few days later, although this did happened to upset me greatly because it was very close, I decided to let it go since I had plans to move her to another facility in the following month. Just today I went out again after a week of not riding or seeing her. Walking out into the field I found her with a injured knee from being kicked. After looking her over some more I found her to have multiple other kick and bite marks on her which really broke my heart. I know how herds work and knew fair well what it meant putting her out with other mares, I knew she would get kicked and bit, but what really baffled me was the fact that the kick to her knee had to have been there almost a week. I know for a fact it hadn’t been there when I last rode a week before and must’ve happened a day or so after. SHE WAS IN PAIN AND LIMPING! This is not something that goes easily unnoticed my anyone at a boarding facility especially when the manager checks the pastured horses daily.
So why was I not told that my horse was injured or at least that she was kicked? Is there any legal action I can take against the boarding facility?
