To a degree I understand your frustrations and not really knowing what’s going on as OTTBs are really different. My first horse was a Paint I leased. But I jumped right in with a Green Off Track almost right away doing/learning everything the hard way LOL At least I had friends who have OTTBs that helped me a lot along the way. My guy was my first (and after almost losing him about a month ago I realized my forever pony) and the mare I have now is my third. I sold my 2nd due to financial issues at the time. So that’s a little history on my experiences.

Reading through the posts again I got thinking. Here’s a couple of my thoughts;

Something I’ve done long term with both of my OTTBs is after treating them for ulcers I put them on a 1/2 cup of Aloe Juice twice a day. It has keep them from getting ulcers back. This is an old school trick my very told me about.

Building trust with them is imperative. Both of mine started becoming A-holes as we started to bond. I didn’t know it at the time, but they were testing me. My guy is terrified of moving water, but he’ll go for me. The mare I have now I haven’t had but a few months. She’s slowly coming around - meaning things are progressing well, but only after a fight the first time. Women LMAO
