HI Ann,
Do you have any thoughts about doing the Nashoba Valley Hunter Pace (in Groton) this Sunday? I am tempted to go, but Noble is a mostly walk, occasional trot kind of guy due to his suspensory issues. Also, he had a brief but not-so-fun freak-out at the last hunter pace, when we got into a situation with several teams all bunched up at one spot, some tense moments between the horses, and then other horses headed off leaving our team of two behind. For reasons unknown except to the equine brain, Noble was desperate to run after the team that included the horse who’d just tried to kick him – even though we had our nice teammate, a very low-key TB, at Noble’s side. Anyway, we had a few minutes of bucking, kicking, and rearing (my first. Oh yay!) and then we got sorted out and he was back to his usual trooper self. But, it makes me worry about going it alone… The herd-bound behavior would probably be worse without a teammate. But, we may just give it a try and hope for the best, call it a learning experience, etc. Someone will find my body eventually… But if you were interested, let me know.
Hope all is going well!
