OP - I bred the mother of my Royal Appearance daughter. The mare was by TB Final Pool a GP show jumper under her amateur owner. This mare was said to be possibly the best Final Pool his owner had seen. She was taken to a Westphalian testing here in Canada and was the talk of the show, unusual being she was the only TB. Albert Kley from 'Spruce Meadows asked her to come back and put her through the jumping chute several more times. She was Champion broodmare/yeld mare at in hand shows. Very bold, kind, forward, personable. The sort of horse that gets you to where you want to go.

I knew if I mentioned Riverman there would be comments… but these are not my experience with the ones I know of.
He is a performance horse, and would not be the flagship stallion of Hilltop Farm if he did not have results. Starting a horse right, with knowledge and patience will give you the horse you want. Both Riverman and RA have international eventers with the Holsteiner jump and canter.

My current questions are what to breed my RA mare to - I think something like a good Irish/TB eventer, of which there are many. I bred my Final Pool mare to an Irish horse and he came out super with that good Irish mind and good feet.

You will find a suitable Daddy, and good luck with the baby.

I really appreciate you sharing this and definitely understand why you didn’t post it on the board- it’s already gotten a bit snarky at a few comments. I’d love to hear more about your RA mare, if you would like to share. I’m hopeful my mare’s kind temprement will be passed on- she is the kind that come running to you in the pasture and likes to rest her head on her humans. She takes very good care of me on xc and I am hopeful she will pass that generosity onto her baby.

I’m stuck right now between taking a chance with a younger stallion or going with something more proven.

Who are you looking at for yours? She sounds absolutely lovely, by the way. The type that shows the best of the breed.
