Hi Libby,
My horse is in a sand paddock, and has been on stone-dust in the past. The poop didn’t alter the footing; it pretty much stayed in enough of a pile for even a couple months (if I didn’t shred it trying to pick it up when it was frozen to the ground) so that it was there, waiting for me, whenever there was a thaw. Last Spring, I picked it up as soon as things melted enough for me to see it and separate it from the ground, but that was particularly heavy and slimy. I think this year, I will wait for a genuinely warm sunny day or two, so the poop piles can dry out at least a bit and I’m not trying to haul wheelbarrows of sludge.
But, it’s four below in central Massachusetts, so, I’m not worrying about it today.
