This is my first post and I have a question/topic I need help with. I have been riding for four years and last summer my family and I bought a 7 year old pony mare. She was already at the barn where I took lessons, I rode her throughout the summer as a project, and my instructor told us that she was for sale. They were selling her because they didn’t get along, but we clicked. We were only walk trot but she seemed very close to cantering. My instructor said that we were a good match and she would be a good jumper. Anyways, we bought her because she was going well, and looked like she would be a good jumper and possibly eventer, which is what I want to do. It seemed to be going fine, but this year she seems to be regressing. She is not good with other horses in the arena, and is nowhere close to even going over a crossrail, or cantering! Will this get better? She will be eight this year and I have been riding for four years and done a few shows, jumping up to two foot. And please, if all you are going to say is I shouldn’t have bought her, don’t bother. It’s already done.
