Hi, i’ve just worked out how to private message so thought id send you a quick hi! That’s such great news you have found a vet to source Oncept. When do you hope to start ? So far it looks promising on my mares worst tumor. It is such early days but some good signs really giving me hope with an 18 mm regression in length. I’ve posted in as much detail as i can. Not even the vet’s here can tell me much. I’ve had to fork out and buy as many research papers as i can. I feel I know more than my vet now lol I read your posts on gooseback and noticed a mention of NZ. Are you from New Zealand? I was just wondering as i am all the best with your horse and keep in touch xxx Len and Holly
Hi Len! So glad you reached out! I’ve been following your thread and it’s so wonderful to hear about the regression. All my fingers and toes are crossed that Holly continues to have good results!
Just got in touch with the oncologist yesterday and they’re getting me more information today. A vet actually referred me to a small animal oncologist who will be able to administer it to Goose, which is a little backwards but basically how it has to get done. I’m okay with it as long as he gets it and we’re able to stay on schedule! I’m actually going to be moving barns at the end of the month, so likely I will start the first vaccine in May and schedule them out from there so he’s done end of June. Then he’d need his next end of this year in December, etc. etc. Can’t wait to see (hopefully) positive results in him!
So glad you took a look at my blog, it’s been a fun activity and a great outlet for everything melanoma related. I actually studied abroad in NZ while I was in college. I went to Lincoln University in Christchurch (Canterbury) and was in the country for about 6 months. I fell totally head over heels for NZ, and if I could I’d move back in a heartbeat, I always say I left my heart in that country it felt so right being there. Haven’t been back in about five years but hopefully one day my horse will stop costing me a fortune and I’ll get back for a visit! What part of NZ do you live in? Such a small world, love that we can share our stories from both sides of the globe!
Also - if you have any recommendation for good articles to read or buy, I’d love your suggestions!
