Hi! I wanted to thank you for the recommendation of Mar Val for my horse who I am going to retire this year. I went out and met with Simon last weekend and he was super friendly. I still have a few other places to check out, but it is a real contender.

If I may ask, how long have you had your horse there and how often do you visit? Do you find that Simon and Nanette are pretty good about sending you updates about your horse, etc.? Are they pretty good about scheduling the farrier, vet, etc. for you if you’re not there?

The facility isn’t exactly as polished as the ones I’m used to, but it’s more important to me that they take good care of the horses and really keep an eye on them.

Thank you!

Hi, My horse has been there about 4 years. I try to visit once a week. Even though he’s retired, he’s still a bit high maintenance because of severe sweet itch. Nanette will text me if something is up with him or if she needs more supplements or a new fly mask or whatever. He had a mild colic a few months ago and she kept me updated every hour. A few years ago, he got pigeon fever and she dealt with the daily flushing, etc and I was billed only $1 a day! Best deal ever. They schedule farrier visits and do the holding. Once your horse is on the farrier schedule, his name goes on a calendar board and will get done every 6 weeks or whatever you feel he needs. My horse is barefoot and is getting a trim every 6 weeks and a touch up filing at 3 weeks. Also regular vet vaccines and dentals are also scheduled and you don’t have to be there. Farrier costs get added to your bill and the vets will bill you directly. There is no cost for holding for the farrier or vet. They will also feed supplements to your horse and meds for about $1 a day so long as they’re prebagged. I know it isn’t fancy on the outside but the horse care is superb in my opinion.
