But you’ll wish you had moved here.

Melissa,

Which “here”?

Looks like you are just south of Tryon. I did go there for a quick visit and saw their preparations for WEG.

I really am hoping to remove myself from humidity. Any pockets of flat and cool in NC? Do I have to move to the West coast, mid CA or Oregon to get “my” weather?

Thanks,

~N.

“Here” referred to the Foothills area, with all its horsey amenities, vs the surrounding cities and towns. The whole of western NC and upstate SC is beautiful, but the horse people who move to a farm or home outside our little “zone” are often looking for a place right in the thick of things (shows, clinics, trails, hunter paces, etc.) within short order. We’re just so spoiled by being surrounded by “our people” (horse people), LOL! I’ve lived in horsey areas my whole life, but this place takes it to another level. However… there is NO escape from our humidity.

I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and never loved the heat, so the much shorter summers here are tolerable to me. I spend 12 weeks mid-May - mid-August in Mills River, NC, running a big summer camp’s riding program, which helps get me out of some of it. And we are an easy drive to elevation in the Blue Ridge and the Smokies for other brief escapes. But June though September pretty much suck, no lie. Beyond that… the Spring and Fall are very long and pleasant, and the Winter is almost non-existant.
